First reaching billionaire statuus in 2013, Anne Gittinger is the granddaughter of John Nordstrom, the founder of the upscale American retailer, Nordstrom. What John set up with Carl F. Wallin in 1901 as a shoe retailer, has since turned into a high-end retailer that includes clothing, accessories, handbags, jewelry, cosmetics, and fragrances. As for Anne Gittinger's role in Nordstrom today, she serves as Cocludesntributions Director whose duty is to oversee the company's charitable donations. Also, she sits on the national board of Canine Companions for Independence, a non-profit organization that both trains and gives assistance dogs to people with disabilities. Along with her brother Bruce, who has run the company for 38 years, Gittinger is one of the company's biggest individual shareholders. Actually, she holds an almost 8% stake.
