Chuck Knoblauch, a Major League Baseball player, has a net worth of $22 million. That net worth has been accumulated through play in more than one position with a variety of different teams, including the Minnesota Twins, the New York Yankees, and the Kansas City Royals. Knoblauch's major league career began with the Minnesota Twins. And it wasn't a bad start to a career, earning both a World Series ring and an American League Rookie of the Year award. This earned him popularity in Minnesota that turned out to be short lived, after he made a controversial request to be traded away from the Twins to the New York Yankees. This action earned him the hatred of Twins fans everywhere, and he is still greeted with jeers (and projectiles) whenever he enters the Metrodome in Minneapolis. His career with the Yankees was about as promising as his start, considering that the team won the World Series championship for every year he was on it. But as an individual player, Knoblauch soon showed signs of deterioration with the Yankees, even before moving to Kansas City (and retiring in 2003). He began to develop what's known as "the yips," characterized by his difficulty making accurate throws to first base. Knoblauch hit a new low when one of his many throwing errors resulted in broadcaster Keith Olbermann's mother getting hit in the face.
Edward Charles "Chuck" Knoblauch ( /'n?bl?:k/; born July 7, 1968) is a retired Major League Baseball player. He played all or part of twelve seasons in the majors, from 1991 until 2002, for the Minnesota Twins (1991-97), New York Yankees (1998-2001) and Kansas City Royals (2002). He played mostly as a second baseman before moving to left field for his last two seasons.
Knoblauch was drafted in the 1st round of the 1986 amateur draft by the Philadelphia Phillies, but did not sign. He went on to play college baseball for Texas A&M University in College Station where he was a second team All-American. He played on the 1989 team that finished the season with 58 wins, the highest total in school history.
Knoblauch won the American League Rookie of the Year award and a World Series ring as a member of the 1991 Minnesota Twins. In Game 7 of the World Series, Knoblauch attempted to deceive Lonnie Smith by appearing to start a double play on a Terry Pendleton double (causing Smith to get only to 3rd base when he might have scored for the Atlanta Braves). Smith claimed that he lost track of the ball, and that Knoblauch's decoy with shortstop Greg Gagne had little to do with his base-running.
During the 1994-96 seasons, Knoblauch batted .312, .333, and .341, won the AL Gold Glove Award at second base in 1997, and became renowned for his speed--stealing over 40 bases in three consecutive seasons. In 1995, Knoblauch assaulted a 15-year-old boy named Nick Rust in Seattle, Wash. Knoblauch attacked the boy when he was approached for an autograph at the team's hotel and the boy muttered "you suck" under his breath when the second baseman refused to sign an autograph. Knoblauch charged the boy grabbing him by the neck and throwing him up against the wall and later pinning the boy against a taxi cab. Knoblauch poked the boy in his chest repeatedly and knocked the boys autograph memorabilia out of his hand. Rust later dropped the charges and the two met in Knoblauch's hotel r
