Cole Hamels net worth and salary: Cole Hamels is an American professional baseball player who has a net worth of $60 million dollars. Cole Hamels was born in San Diego, California, and attended Rancho Bernardo High School. While in high school, he attracted the notice of multiple scouts because of his 94 mph fastball. However, he broke his arm his sophomore year, and interest in the young player disappeared. However, he bounced back well enough to be drafted by the Philadelphia Phillies in 2002. He spent the next few years playing in the Minor Leagues, where he quickly distinguished himself. He won the Paul Owens Award for best pitcher in the Minor Leagues, his first year. The next few years were sporadic as he dealt with injuries, but after getting back on track, he was called up to the Major Leagues in 2006. Since then, he has been a 3 time All-Star selection, and won both the Babe Ruth Award and NLCS MVP. The Philadelphia Phillies were the 2008 World Champions.
Colbert Michael "Cole" Hamels (born December 27, 1983) is a left-handed starting pitcher for the Philadelphia Phillies of Major League Baseball. Hamels throws a four-seam fastball, a circle changeup, a curveball, and a cut fastball, which he added in 2010. He was named Most Valuable Player of the 2008 World Series and National League Championship Series after posting a 4a??0 record in the postseason.
Cole Hamels attended Rancho Bernardo High School in San Diego, California. Hamels received a score of 1510 (out of 1600) on the SAT. According to Tony Gwynn, a lot of scouts were interested in Hamels while he was pitching for RBHS because his fastball was clocked as high as 94 miles per hour (151 km/h), and because his secondary offerings were considered advanced. However, he broke his pitching arm in his sophomore year, so teams, including the San Diego Padres, lost interest.[citation needed]
Nonetheless, Hamels was drafted in the first round of the 2002 Major League Baseball Draft by the Philadelphia Phillies, who held the 17th overall selection.
Hamels began his professional baseball career in 2003, pitching for the Class A Lakewood BlueClaws of the South Atlantic League. Later that season, he was promoted to the Clearwater Threshers of the Class A-Advanced Florida State League. After the 2003 season, Hamels received the Paul Owens Award as the best pitcher in the Phillies' minor league system.
During the next two seasons, however, Hamels was plagued by injuries and pitched only sparingly. He missed most of the 2004 season with an elbow injury. In 2005, he broke his pitching hand in a bar fight before the season began, and once he recovered, then hurt his back, and was shut down for the rest of the season.
In 2006, a healthy Hamels started again at Clearwater, and after a brief stint with the Reading Phillies of the Class AA Eastern League, he was promoted to the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Red Barons of the Class AAA International League, where in just thre
