The always-well-informed Real Estalker reports that grunge scion Frances Bean Cobain has picked up a lot of lovely tilework near Runyon Canyon–she’s bought that Carl Jules Weyl-designed house that we first saw back in May asking $1.829 million. Kurt Cobain and Courtney Love’s daughter spent some time in Los Angeles growing up and had her first art show here (at La Luz de Jesus) last year, although she’s rumored to be attending Bard College in Annandale-on-Hudson, New York. Her new house was built in 1930 and designed by Weyl, who’s most well known as an art director on films including Casablanca and The Big Sleep. He also designed the Hollywood Brown Derby. The four bedroom house comes with original tile and stained glass, plus a garage that’s been converted to a studio. Cobain, who inherited a little more than a third of her father’s estate last year, paid $1.825 million. · Frances Bean Cobain Buys A West Coast Crib of Her Own [Real Estalker] · 1930 Spanish by Art Director/Brown Derby Designer Carl Jules Weyl [Curbed LA]
