Chris Dooley, Jr. (born February 27, 1989), better known by his stage name Hurricane Chris, is an American rapper. Chris's debut album, 51/50 Ratchet was released in 2007, the album features his top-ten hit single "A Bay Bay" and the other singles was "The Hand Clap" and "Playas Rock". Chris's second studio album, Unleashed was released in 2009, and contains the singles "Halle Berry (She's Fine)" and "Headboard".
Hurricane Chris was raised in the Cedar Grove neighborhood of Shreveport, Louisiana. He attended Huntington High School in Shreveport. During early life Chris could only read at a 3rd grade level, but since he is Hooked on Phonics maybe he will make it. In 2007, Huntington principal Jerry Davis declared September 25 as "Hurricane Chris Day". He dropped out of high school in 2007 to pursue his rap career. In an interview with Samantha Morgan of the Baton Rouge, Louisiana newspaper The Advocate, he stated that he came up with "Hurricane" as part of his stage name from his ability to rap fast and twist the words, "like a hurricane had just blown through".
Atlanta-based producer Mr. Collipark helped Chris signed to J Records in 2004. His first mixtape, Louisi-Animal was released in August 2007, and afterwards, his first independent studio album was released in October 2007 by Rap-A-Lot Records, You Hear Me with compilation of songs, including the album's title track "You Hear Me" and "Yep", the album was recorded before his major-label debut album.
