John Arrillaga Net Worth: John Arrillaga is an American real estate mogul and philanthropist who has a net worth of $1.8 billion. One of Silicon Valley's largest landowners today, John Arrillaga has generally amassed his fortune through his real estate business. Born to a family of Basque descent in 1937, Arrillaga acquired his higher education at Stanford University on a basketball scholarship. At the time, he was also a member of Delta Tau Delta college fraternity. Upon graduation, in the 1960s, Arrillaga united with Richard Peery to buy California farmland in order to convert it into office space. Over the years, the two partners have become some of the biggest commercial landlords in the Silicon Valley with more than 12,000,000 square feet (1,100,000 m2). However, their total possessions were almost halved as Arrillaga sold 5,300,000 square feet (490,000 m2) of his real estate holdings for approximately $1.1 billion. Most recently, Mr. Arrillaga made the headlines for making a generous donation of $151 million to Stanford University. Actually, it's the largest donated sum Stanford has ever received from a living donor. Also, this Stanford alumni has already made some previous donations for other Stanford buildings, as well as he bestowed scholarships to support around 50 Stanford students. Widowed and a father of two, he currently resides in Portola Valley, California.

In June 2013, he again donated to Stanford, writing a check for $151 million, making it the largest individual donation in the school's history.
He is widowed, and he resides in Portola Valley, California. His daughter Laura Arrillaga-Andreessen is married to Marc Andreessen, the successful entrepreneur who co-authored the Mosaic and Netscape web browsers, and who is co-founder of several web technology enterprises. His son John Arrillaga, Jr. is married to Justine Stamen Arrillaga, founder of the TEAK Fellowship. Through his son, he also has three grandsons, Jack, Finn, and Benjamin Arrillaga.
