Roberto Angelini Rossi net worth: Roberto Angelini Rossi is a Chilean billionaire who has a net worth of $1.2 billion. Roberto Angelini Rossi is an industrial civil engineering graduate from Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Chile. He started his professional career with Lever Chile S.A. In 1976, he went on to work as an engineer in a fishing plant in Arica, in the north of Chile, where he began his professional career with the The Angelini Group, founded by his former billionaire uncle Anacleto Angelini. At the time, he held several executive and director level positions before assuming his present board member role. Being a nephew to the founder, Angelini Rossi now heads the family business and holds the largest share of the family's holdings. The Angelini Group has made various investments in fishing, mining, copper, timber and natural gas, through publicly traded companies Antarchile, Siemel, and Eperva. Expanding its holdings in Chile, Rossi also leaded the group abroad, making a deal with Scandinavian paper maker Stora Ensa in 2009 to build a eucalyptus pulp mill in Uruguay. The Angelini Group continued its expansion, and by the end of 2010 it purchased a 59% stake in Proenergia, a Colombian gas and fuel distributor, for $45 million. Additionally, Roberto Angelini Rossi is the CEO of Empresas Copec S.A., Chile's leading forestry industry conglomerate and one of the largest in the world. The company is mostly active in the forestry industry through Arauco (Celulosa Arauco y Constitucion), but it is also present in the electric energy segment, through Empresa Electrica Guacolda, and in mining via Sociedad Minera Isla Riesco and Minera Can-Can. Plus, it has the highest volume of production, sales, and forestry assets in South America, and it holds investments in Argentina, Brazil and Uruguay. The billionaire, who was ranked by Forbes as #5 among wealthiest people in Chile for 2012, is married with four children.
Anacleto Angelini Fabbri (January 17, 1914 a?? August 28, 2007) was an Italian born, Chilean businessman. At the time of his death, he was South America's wealthiest person, with an estimated net worth of USD $6 billion. He was chairman at Antarchile, one of Latin America's largest conglomerates.
Angelini was born in Ferrara, Italy to Giuseppe Angelini and Adalisa Fabbri. A veteran of the Italian army's campaign in Ethiopia, he immigrated to Chile in 1948, and made his fortune based on fisheries, forestry, mining and fuel distribution. In 1986 he bought a majority in Chilean company Copec.
Without an heir, he ceded day-to-day control of his holding company, Antarchile, to a nephew, Roberto Angelini Rossi. Anacleto Angelini resided in a modest apartment in a middle-class neighborhood in Santiago.
Angelini's Celco pulp mill was closed in 2005 after the company lawyers reportedly produced a misleading environmental study regarding pollution on the Cruces River. The scandal prompted Celco's chief executive to resign in June 2005 and the company to pledge to adopt cleaner technologies. The plant reopened two months later at limited production capacity.
On 28 August 2007, Angelini died in the clinical hospital of the Catholic University of Chile from emphysema, which had been aggravated by a severe cold.
