Sheryl Sandberg is a businessperson and entrepreneur with a net worth of $1.6 billion. Her net worth is a reflection of her association with two of the most successful business on the internet (or in any other field), Google and Facebook. Before beginning her job as the chief operating officer of Mark Zuckerbergs Facebook in 2008, Sandberg held the title of Vice President of Global Online Sales and Operations at Google. Before then, she worked for the United States Department of the Treasury as chief of staff. Sandbergs career in business began shortly after her graduation from Harvard Business School, when she was hired as a management consultant for management consulting firm McKinsey & Company. At her current position with Facebook, Sandberg is known for her success in finding a way to take Facebook from simply a popular website into a truly profitable business. She did this largely through the introduction of discreet advertisements to the Facebook interface, and in 2010, the site began turning a profit. In addition to her job with Facebook, Sandberg is on the board of directors for companies such as the Walt Disney Company and Starbucks. Her husband David Goldberg is also no stranger to the world of business, currently serving as the CEO of website SurveyMonkey.

In 2012, she was named in Time 100, an annual list of the 100 most influential people in the world assembled by Time.
Sandberg was born in 1969 in Washington, D.C., the daughter of Adele and Joel Sandberg and the oldest of three siblings. Her family moved to North Miami Beach, Florida when she was two years old. She attended public school, where she was "always at the top of her class." Sandberg taught aerobics in the 1980s while in high school.
In 1987, Sandberg enrolled at Harvard College and in 1991, graduated with a B.A. in Economics and was awarded the John H. Williams Prize for the top graduating student in economics. While at Harvard, Sandberg met then-professor Larry Summers who became her mentor and thesis adviser. Summers recruited her to be his research assistant at the World Bank, where she worked on health projects in India dealing with leprosy, AIDS, and blindness.
In 1993, she enrolled at Harvard Business School and in 1995 she earned her M.B.A. with highest distinction. After business school, Sandberg worked as a management consultant for McKinsey & Company.
